The Reunion: Returning to the Underground

Roots run deep for Durham Region locals Keith (Avro) and Jason Brain, whose collaborative journey ignited in the early 2000s when they founded Funkstate Events while attending college in Peterborough. Over the decades, both artists have carved out extensive paths across Ontario’s electronic music landscape. Avro has remained a relentless force in the trance movement, known for his driving psytrance sets and original productions.

Meanwhile, Jason embarked on a long side quest in the marathon wedding DJ circuit before finding his way back to his rave roots. His return to the festival stage was sparked at the visual controls, working as a VJ alongside psytrance heavyweights like Morten Granau, Hatikwa, Avalon, and Vegas (BR) for a Toronto-based production company. This immersive, live-performance experience inspired him to officially leave the request lines behind and return to the decks for performance-driven DJing, teaming up once again with Avro.

Now reunited, the longtime duo brings a powerful fusion of progressive and full-on psytrance to the dancefloor. Blending hypnotic rhythms, driving basslines, and decades of shared intuition, Avro and Jason are set to deliver a peak sonic journey for festival stages and outdoor gatherings.
